On 7th of November, 2000, one amongst the nation’s biggest LSD lab was discovered by the ‘US Drug Enforcement Administration’ in a ‘converted military missile silo’ within Wamego.
As per US Census Bureau, area of Wamego on the whole is 4.3 sq. Km; out of which 2.4%25 consists of water. Wamego stands at intersection of K-99 and US route 24. It lies at the distance of 26 Km on the eastern side of Manhattan, i.e. home to Kansas State University; and at the distance of around 75 Km on the west-northeastern side of Topeka, i.e. state capital. The city’s southern edge witnesses the flow of Kansas River.
As per 2000 census, population of Wamego was 4246. Its density had been 1012 per square kilometer. Per capita income with regards to the city was $16307. Around 8.6%25 of total population was found to be below poverty line.
