Museum of World History
The Museum of World History is an eclectic hodge-podge of history from throughout the world. Located in Wichita, Kansas at 835 East 1st Street, this museum boasts a vast collection of odds and ends from around the world. Rather than focusing on one genre of history, the museum displays a diverse collection that covers a range of subjects and interests that could keep visitors engaged for hours on end. The three-story building is laid out by the eras in world history, with the first floor focusing on fossils, geology and ancient human history, the second on military and political history, and the third on miscellaneous American history. Some exhibit highlights include specimens of Tyrannosaurus, Daspletosaurus and Tylosaurus, Egyptian mummies, signatures of all the American presidents, a portion of the Berlin wall and the Scarecrow’s pitchfork from The Wizard of Oz.
The museum appeals to visitors of all ages, and it even has a special activity center for children that include a Moon Walk, Puppet Theater, and large play castle and dungeon. The Museum of World Treasures makes for the perfect way to spend a rainy day—or any day, for that matter—in Wichita, Kansas. For more information, call 316-263-1311.
