There’s no mistaking the artistic credibility of the Ulrich Museum of Art once you lay eyes on the building’s striking exterior. Located in Wichita, Kansas at 1845 Fairmount Street, this modern art museum was established in 1974 as a joint effort to further the educational cultivation for both the community and Wichita State University. The museum, which invites you inside with a vibrant, bold painting on the brick exterior, features an impressive collection of around 6,300 pieces. The exhibitions focus mostly on modern and contemporary works and art forms.
One of the highlights of the museum program is the Martin H. Bush Outdoor Sculpture Collection of 70 statues spread across the Wichita State University campus. While this isn’t inside the actual museum, it provides insight into the mission of the Ulrich Museum of Art and its educational and artistic mantra as conveyed to students at Wichita State University. The scenic stroll throughout the campus also makes for a nice extension of your museum experience as well.
