Considering that Wichita is the Air Capital of the World, you may want to start your tour by visiting the Kansas Aviation Museum, which highlights the role that the city and state played in the country’s aviation history.
A not-to-miss attraction is the Old Town, which is spread out in the heart of town and is made up of converted brick warehouses and historic lampposts dating back to the early nineteenth century. The galleries with their exhibits of paintings, sculptures and photography leave visitors impressed.
The 13-m Keeper of the Plains statue is a steel sculpture which is now one of the city’s most recognized symbols. The Epic Centre, which is Kansas’ tallest building, is also located in Wichita.
The Wichita Jazz Festival usually takes place in April and is a major annual event. Another spectacular affair is the Wichita River Festival in May which has over 70 events and attracts hundreds of thousands of people.
