Bardstown can be described as a city located in County of Nelson, Kentucky, US. It’s also its county seat.

The name ‘Bardstown’ has been derived from ‘David Bard’, i.e. the person who went on to obtain the land from Virginia’s governor. His brother, i.e. William Bard, had also accompanied him in this task. He, in actual sense, was the surveyor. In other words, he was the one who had chalked out a plan for the town.

Bardstown is the 2nd biggest city all over Kentucky. The settlement on its part took place in 1780s and charter got received in the year 1790.
 
As per US census Bureau, Bardstown’s total area consisted of 18.6 sq. Km.

As of census conducted in the year 2000, the population of Bardstown was 10374. Its density had been 558 per square kilometer. Median income with regards to every household was reported to be $31497; whereas that with respect to a family had been $41065. Per capita income was $17681. Around 17.7%25 of total population was found to be below poverty line.
