The oldest city in Kentucky State in the United States is Harrodsburg. It is the county seat in Mercer County. The total area of this city is 5.3 square miles which is entirely occupied by land. The elevation of this city is 850 feet. The initial name of this city was Harrodstown or Harrod’s Town as it was established by James Harrod in 1774. In the same year, Native Americans attacked this town and the settlement was abandoned. In 1775, it was resettled and nominally became a section of the proposed Transylvania Colony. In 1776, Kentucky became a County of Virginia and Transylvania was invalidated.

As per the 2000 census, the population of Harrodsburg is 8,014.

July and August are the warmest months in this city when the temperature varies from 65 to 87 degrees Fahrenheit. January is the coolest month which experiences a temperature range of 26 to 43 degrees Fahrenheit. The annual average precipitation is 45.73 inches.
