Pennyroyal Area Museum
This museum exhibits various facts regarding Hopkinsville’s history; inclusive of Pennyrile region. It’s owned as well as funded by ‘City of Hopkinsville’. The objective behind establishment was perpetuation of heritage of rich history of Southwestern Kentucky. In the year 1974, the age-old building of post office was acquired by ‘City of Hopkinsville’ from Government of US to be used in the form of an ‘educational museum’. The year 1975 witnessed its inception. It was opened for public from 8th of July, 1976 onwards. Its staff and board perform the task of maintaining a broad range of ‘activities’ for preserving and interpreting the past. Citizens of this area have contributed a great deal in tradition of Kentucky from era of post revolution to present. Having historical scope, this museum makes an attempt to have portrayed development of ‘Nine County Pennyrile Region’. Exhibits are inclusive of ‘night riders’ of ‘Black Patch Tobacco Wars’, ‘Jefferson Davis’, etc.
