The Newport Aquarium is one of the finest with its fine collection of amphibians and reptiles, its coral reefs, its turtle exhibits, shark tank exhibits and many displays of sea life. The sea otter area and the lorikeet ‘cage’ is worth a visit as one can hold and feed the lorikeets.
Newport on the Levy Entertainment Complex is another entertaining venue with its shops, game areas, cinema and restaurants. One must take a Riverboat cruise down the Ohio River and learn about the history of the Cincinnati area and the Ohio River.
Southgate House in Newport where Brigadier General John Thompson was born is the place to visit to hear live music performances and has a bar.
A number of events are held on the Newport Riverfront. The Newport Spring Carnival has free admission and great carnival food and rides for kids. The Newport Italianfest has live Italian music and authentic Italian food.
The Newport Arts and Jazz Festival, displays fine art and craft exhibits and local music with performing arts groups.
