Pikeville is a city situated in Pike County in Kentucky and is spread across an area of 15.4 sq miles on the Levisa Fork of the Big Sandy River. The city lies amidst the mountains of Pike County in the east of Kentucky and is thus named as 'Kentucky's Mountain Treasure'.The city is blessed with a temperate climate and does not experience extreme weather conditions like the other cities in Kentucky. The lush green surroundings and rugged landscapes are a treat for nature lovers. The city has a population of 6,500 people as per the 2007 census and is the birthplace of a number of sports personnel such as Mark Reynolds (baseball player) and Robert Damron and Woody Blackburn (professional golfers).
