The Eastern Kentucky Exposition Center is a multi purpose venue which hosts numerous sports events and local concerts. It has a huge seating capacity of five to seven thousand people and is owned by the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
A number of cultural events take place in the city, which is usually held in the Booth Auditorium. Hillbilly Days is the largest festival in the state which depicts the culture and past of the city through its plays, costumes and music. From November to January one can view the 'Mountain Top Lights' show in the city which is a magnificent light show in the Breaks Interstate Park depicting animated scenes of the history of the place.There is water rafting, hiking, swimming, horse riding and camping which one can enjoy in the park. The park covers a total area of 4,500 acres of woodland with scenic natural surroundings including caves, wildlife, flora, towers and rock formations. It is a perfect tourist spot for nature lovers.
