The Kentucky State in the United States has the Floyd County in which there is a county seat and city called as Prestonsburg. This city lies on the banks of the Levisa Fork of River Big Sandy in the Eastern section of the state. In 1797, Col John Preston established this city and it has been named after him. The gross area of the city is 11.1 square miles and out of these 10.9 square miles is occupied by land while 0.2 square miles is filled with water. The elevation of this city is 633 feet. The Big Macedamia is in this city where music concerts are held and it is a home to the Kentucky Opry.
As per the 2000 census, the population of Prestonsburg was 3,612.
January is the coolest month and has a temperature range of 24 to 44 degrees Fahrenheit. July and August are the warmest months with a temperature range of 65 to 89 degrees Fahrenheit. The maximum average precipitation occurs in May which is 4.54 inches.
