Essentially, a small town lined with houses and villas, Kihei does not have many attractions to lure tourists. However, its beaches, idyllic weather and friendly atmosphere keep the visitors pouring in.
The sleepy town offers the most breathtaking views of Lanai, Kahoolawe and Molokini. Places to visit include Kihei Beach Resort, B&B Scuba and Sanctuary Education Center. Also of interest are the remains of the tank traps and bunkers that were built to protect the town against the Japanese invasion during the Second World War.
This coastal paradise offers many water based recreational activities in its peaceful ambience. Ohukai Park, on the northern end of Kihei, is considered to be the best wind surfing beach in Hawaii. Other attractions include the Turtle Reef, which is a water sport hotspot, and Haleakala National Park.
