The city of Layton is situated in Davis County in Utah, USA. Bordered by the Wasatch Mountains to the east and the Great Salt Lake to the west, the city covers an area of 54 sq km and has a population of around 68,000.
Established in 1850 as an agricultural community, the settlement was formerly known as Kaysville. It was later renamed Layton after Christopher Layton, a Mormon colonizer and property owner in Kaysville.
