Located at the confluence of Delaware Bay, the Atlantic Ocean and Cape Henlopen is the city of Lewes in Sussex County in Delaware, USA. This city, with a small area of around 11 sq km, houses a population of over 3,000 residents.
The Lenni Lenape Indians were the initial inhabitants of the area. The Dutch settled here in 1631 and were the first Europeans to settle in this region.
The terrain of this panoramic city is dominated by coasts, beaches, the pristine water of the sea and a number of other natural wonders. Lewes hosts a number of cultural festivals like the Great Delaware Kite Festival and the Lewes Festival of Gardens.
The city is also blessed with a pleasant climate. The warm summers have an average temperature of close to 30°C, while the average temperature in winters is around 9°C. Its economy is dependent primarily on the shipping and fishing industries and the tourism and service sectors.
