The city of Little Rock gets its name from Le Petite Roche—the little rock—which is a must visit. It is located near the Riverfront Park. The park is an attraction in itself, containing a history pavilion, amphitheatre, playground, plazas, promenades and picnic areas.
The best way to delve into the history of the city is by visiting the Quapaw Quarter Historic District which includes MacArthur Park and Governor’s Mansion districts and several good museums like MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History. Animal lovers should make it a point to visit the Little Rock Zoo which houses about 725 species in a natural tree-shaded atmosphere.
For a unique experience, visit Murray’s Dinner Theatre where one is treated to not just good food but also an entertaining show.
Riverfest, celebrated in Riverfront Park, is Little Rock’s biggest annual event. Held during the Memorial Day weekend, it attracts more than 225,000 visitors.
