Baker is a famous city located in the East Baton Rouge Parish in the Louisiana state in United States. It is also considered to be part of the Baton Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town is located in the Central Standard time zone and its elevation is about 79 feet above sea level. The town was named after the famous plantation owner, Josephus Baker. This indicates the major occupation of the residents here is plantation. As per the 2000 census, the population in the city was found to be around 13,793, which has decreased to 13,352 in 2003 census. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has recorded of having a full area of about 7.9 square miles of which hundred percent of the area is covered by land and zero percent by water. The town experiences a humid climate in the afternoon and a pleasant climate in evenings and mornings throughout the year.
