Bogalusa is located in the Washington Parish, Louisiana in the United States of America. It is considered to be the principal city of Bogalusa Micro Politian Statistical Area. The name "Bogalusa" has been derived from the creek "Bogue Lusa" which continuously flows through the city. The city is situated on the eastern border of Washington Parish on the banks of the Pearl River. According to the 2000 census the population in the city was found to be around 13,365. But the population has tremendously shown a fair increase every year. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has recorded to have a total area of about 9.5 square miles, out of which 9.3 square miles is in land and the remaining 0.2 square miles is under water. The major industries include lumber mills and paper manufacturing. Agriculture is the second option of occupation for the residents. The average temperature in Bogalusa ranges around 20 degrees throughout the year. The city also enjoys moderate breezes in the month of January and February.
