Brossard is a city which is located in Lafayette and St. Martin parishes in the US state of Louisiana. This city is a part of the Lafayette Metropolitan Statistical Area. It was originally named as Cote Gelee, meaning the Frozen Hills, as it was a hilly area. Founded in 1884, it was named after Valsin Broussard, a prominent local merchant.
As per the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 11.4 square miles, of which 0.04 square miles is water and 11.4 square miles is land.
Population of the city as of the 2005 Census was 6,754. As of 2009, the city population is 7,642 people. Since 2000, the city population reached to 25.03 percent.
