Destrehan is located in the St Charles Parish in Louisiana in United States.
The place was named after the president of the Territorial Council Jean N. Destrehan who served within the period (1754 to 1823). There is a plantation home in Destrehan which was the former home of the president. Since the home is being registered under National Register Of Historic Places it has now become one of the tourist attractions of this place.
Earlier the town was also famous for oil refinery and agriculture. Farming proved to be successful over here.
With a total area of 20.5km this area has a mixed population that includes African American, White, Asian, Native American and some other races.
Population according to 2000 census comes to 11,260. This place experiences a climate quite pleasant thus drawing travelers across the globe. One can make his vacation a memorable by making a trip to Destrehan.
