Baton Rouge Zoo
Baton Rouge Zoo houses around 1800 animals from across the globe. It holds the credit of being the first one to be honored by ‘American Zoo and Aquarium Association’. This zoo is extremely active with regards to conservation programs. Moreover, it completely participates in almost 30 SSPs, i.e. Species Survival Plans to save species which are critically endangered.
Zoo Hours: Baton Rouge Zoo remains open from 0930 to 1700 hrs (daily). However, the timings have been extended to an hour on weekends, i.e. from 1st of April to 1st of May.
Jeanerette Museum
The other name for this museum is ‘Le Beau petit Musee’; meaning a tiny, artistically decorated ‘sampling’ of ‘life’; along Teche. It was constructed in the year 1902 in the form of a cypress home. The year 1976 witnessed its transformation in to a museum.
Operating hours: This monument remains open between 0900 and 1600 hrs on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. On the other hand, it remains closed on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
