Louisiana: Cities and Vacations

Louisiana Vacations: information about the history of Louisiana and cities.

Reviews

3/7/2010
Overall rating: 8

Louisiana has an area of 134,382 sq km and a population of nearly 4.5 million people. The capital city is Baton Rouge.

Louisiana is located in the southern region of the USA. It is bordered by Arkansas in the north, the Gulf of Mexico in the south, Texas in the west and Mississippi in the east. A large part of the state was created as a result of the Mississippi River. The highest point in the state is the Driskill Mountain at only 160 m above sea level. Louisiana is the only state which is divided into parishes instead of counties.

Its a good place to grow up if you stay away from certain areas. I wish there were more live music and festivals. I love downtown and I wish it was not as run down. It can be hard to meet people in the area because many people have lived here for a long time. I think the education in the area is really bad and drop out rates are crazy. Not somewhere I want to live forever but is a great place for a family if you do everything right.

Lafayette is a small, family oriented community that is just big enough to have the "fancy things" that bigger cities offer. We have tons of free festivals and more artistic outlets than most places. If there isn't something here that you enjoy doing, whether is indoor, outdoor, history, music, sports, culture, eating, church, animals or business, than create it! This community encourages our people to make it their own.
