Morgan City or previously known as Brashear city is located in St. Mary and St. Martin parishes in Louisiana State of the US. Morgan City is situated on the banks of River Atchafalaya. This city is also popularly known as Tiger Island, because the sight of a particular wild cat is usual in this area. It was earlier known as Brashear City after the famous Kentucky physician known as Walter Brashear. Walter Brashear was the owner of huge land pieces and a large number of sugar mills.The Morgan City experiences subtropical humid climate, as it is located in Louisiana State. Most of the cities in Louisiana State are bound to hit by at least one hurricane every year. Morgan City is no exception for this fact. In 1992 this city was hit by Hurricane Andrew, which is remembered as the “second most destructive hurricane in the history of the US”. According to 2000 census, nearly 12, 703 people reside in this city.
