Port Allen is a city which is situated in Louisiana. It is the parish seat of West Baton Rouge Parish in Louisiana. This city is situated in between Interstate 10 and US Highway 190 towards the west bank of the Mississippi River. This city is also the part of the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Statistical Area.
This city was incorporated in 1916 and has some of the most historical places like the Aillet House, Poplar Grove Plantation House, Sandbar Plantation house and many such best places.
The population of the Port Allen city was 5,278 as per the 2000 census of which the population density was 2,486.3 people per square mile. The racial makeup of the city was Whites 45.04 percent, 53.98 percent of African American, 0.15 percent of Native American and 0.04 percent of Asians. Pacific Islander were 0.02 percent and other races were 0.27 percent.
As per the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.6 square miles, of which0.5 square miles is water and 2.1 square miles is land.
