Shreveport is the 3rd largest city in the state of Louisiana housing a population of 375,000.
Shreveport rests on a low elevation landscape which overlooks the Red River. Outskirts of the city comprise mainly cotton fields, Pine forests and waterways.
Shreveport has a subtropical humid climate with abundant rainfall. During spring, severe thunderstorms and occasional tornadoes occur in the area. The winters are normally mild while summers are quite warm and humid.
Shreveport is a cultural and commercial centre of the Ark-La-Tex, the convergence point of Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas.
The Red River separates the cities of Shreveport and Bossier and many people in the community refer to is as 'Shreveport-Bossier'.
The city has seen a rapid growth in the gaming industry, hosting various riverboat gambling casinos.
Numerous film production companies have chosen Shreveport to shoot movies, giving it a nickname of ‘Hollywood South’.
