Lake Pontchartrain Basin Maritime Museum is a center of maritime heritage of Louisiana. This interpretive center is totally dedicated to bring the Louisiana maritime history to life. This history museum focuses on the historic significance of Madisonville. It also presents the story of industries and cultural heritage of the Lake Pontchartrain Basin. There is also a festival named Wooden Boat held in second weekend in the month of October at this museum.
