Cadillac Mountain
It is mainly composed of pink granite with forests of spruce and pitch pine. Spectacular Views of Acadia National Park from the top of the mountain attract the tourists. To the northwestern side, of the mountain, your eyes are blessed with a glimpse of the Western bay, eagle Lake. On the southern side, you can catch the Cranberry Islands. The Porcupine Islands, Bar Harbor, Bar Island, and at a distance, Schoodic Peninsula on the mainland all lie to the northeast. It is possible to see Mount Katahdin, Maine's highest mountain, on a clear day.
Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse
It is the lone lighthouse on the whole of Mount Desert Island. It is at current a clandestine abode, to the chief of the local Coast Guard unit. Spectacular views can be seen from the short trails on the either side of the light house. It is placed along Route 102A in Bass Harbor, which is on the western side of Mount Desert Island.
Islesford Historical Museum
In every corner of the museum, there are objects, as permanent exhibit. From which many are daily tools of their time they narrate stories of island life: harpoon gun and ship clocks, store ledgers and weights, sextant and octants. The museum is open daily from morning 9 to noon and in the afternoon from 12:30 to 3:30p.m, from mid-June through September. On Sundays it opens at 10:45 hrs. Its facilities include restrooms, drinking fountains, and a small bookstore.
