Maine is one of the 50 states of the United States, located in the region of New England, in the extreme northeast of the country. Bridgton is a town located in Cumberland County. The population of the town is estimated to be 4,883 as per the census of 2000. It is a resort area. Bridgton Academy is located in Bridgton town and is a preparatory private school. Bridgton is also a part of the Maine Metropolitan Statistical Area. Two of the islands of the Aleutian Archipelago are located in the eastern hemisphere. The city has an area of 67.7 square miles out of which, 57.3 square miles is land and about 10 miles is water. Most areas of the town and its surroundings are covered by forests. Several financial organizations have their headquarters in Maine.
