Calais City is situated in Washington County in Maine. This is also a port of entry and is located on the St. Croix River, with St. Stephen, New Brunswick. The first settler was Daniel Hill from Jonesboro, who arrived in 1779. Early occupations of the city were farming, ship building and hunting. Calais was incorporated as a city in 1850.
