The Nylander Museum
The museum has its origin from the Governor Lewis Barrows during the year 1939, who had designed the place to store the collections of a naturalist Mr.Olof O. Nylander from Sweden. The other museums like Smithsonian, National Museum of Canada intended to attain a part of the Nylander collection, but still the collection has remained integral part of the museum. The museum also carries its history, displays and various historical collections. The museum is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 12:30 to 16:30 hours, on other days one can come by prior appointment. Museum remains close on legal holidays.
Caribou Historical Society
The society was established in the year 1974. It was dedicated by a group of people to preserve the history of Caribou. Earlier than the year 1986 the society used to meet in various places and than the members contacted all the current and former citizens of the city caribou, thus the caribou historical society started its operations. It is located on the the south of downtown caribou on United State’s Route 1, which is at a distance of 3 miles (from Caribou).
