The museum was founded in the year 1983. During the breakup of the Bell System, the museum was created in response to the loss of a switching system called Panel. From the time the museum was set-up the museum started collecting many large and important machines. The museum remains open on every Thursday to Sunday during the month of July, August and September. One can visit with an appointment only during the month of May, June and October. The hours of operation are 13:00 to 16:00 hours.

The Encore Presentation which is on Friday, April 3 at 19:00 hours. The show will last for 3 hours 21 minutes with two intervals.
The La Sonnambula (New Production) – Bellini will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2009 (13:00 hours) and the running time is 2 hours 40 minutes with one intermission.
