Bradbury Mountain State Park
The state park has lot of area with several miles of hiking trails with abundant forests, which also includes a relatively easy 10- minute hike to a summit of 485 foot height. The park also offers camping facilities and can be reached taking the ME 125 and ME 136 to the north from Freeport and following the state park road signs.
Desert of Maine
William Tuttle came down to this town in the year 1797 to cultivate potatoes but his combination of clear-cutting and overgrazing led to erosion to exposing the desert of Maine to hide under the topsoil. The dunes shifting and which are as deep as 70 feet in some regions are covered with trees and old farm’s buildings. There are a lot of activities for the kids including 30 minute tram tour.
Wolf Neck Woods State Park
The Wolf Neck Woods State Park is situated just on the outskirts of Freeport which is 5 miles of trails for hiking which are relatively easy and not tiresome, which also includes a panoramic Shoreline Walk which skirts Casco Bay. The park can be reached by taking the Bow Street and by turning right towards the Wolf Neck Road.
