The Maine Wildlife Park idea was conceived by the Maine Legislature who implemented a mandate of requirement of the game farm to be financially self sufficient. After efforts and aid, the Maine Wildlife park was established in early 1998 with exhibits, programs and such displays. At present, the park has reached its legislative mandate of becoming a self sufficient with substantial donations from many private funders and grants.
