Located in the Penobscot county, Howland is a city in the Maine district of the United States. Howland settled as a city in the year 1818.The city was the birth place of Dr. Percy Spencer, he had invented the Microwave oven. The former famous wrestler Scott Garland was born in Howland. This city had been named for passenger John Howland. The city follows the Eastern Standard Time Zone.

The city’s population is 1693 according to latest poll out of which about 46 %25 were males and 54 %25 were females.  The population density was 45.6 people per square mile and there were 552 households in Howland.

Howland has a total area of 35.3 square miles, out of which 34.7 square miles is land and 0.7 square miles is water.  This city is at the junction of two rivers Piscataquis and Penobscot.

The city’s average temperature during summer is 80 degrees Fahrenheit while in the winter it is 5 degrees Fahrenheit. The city gets a rainfall of around 45 inches.
