The town of Kittery is located in the York County in the Maine region of United States.

The town has a population of approximately 9,543.

Kittery claims itself to be the “Gateway to Maine”. The town houses the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard on Seavey's Island, it also includes part of Kittery point district and the Isles of Shoals.

The town comes under the Maine Metropolitan Statistical Area and the Portland–South Portland–Biddeford.

Kittery was incorporated in the year 1647 and is supposed to be "the oldest incorporated town in Maine."

Kittery is located in the southernmost edge of Maine and is one of the most historic communities in the entire state.
