Winthrop village lays between Annabessacook Lake and Maranacook Lake. This town has been crossed by state routes 135, 133, 100, 41, and 11. US route 202 also crosses it. It’s bordered by Manchester on the eastern side, West Gardiner on the southeastern side, Mommouth on the southern side, Wayne and Leeds on the western side, and ‘Readfield’ on the northern side.
