Mount Nebo Wildlife Management Area

Almost 30 miles towards the southwest of Cumberland is situated the Mount Nebo Wildlife Management Area. It lies amongst the mountains of Garrett County. This region comprises of a red spruce bog where Canada geese and beavers can be found. Hunters have a limited chance in this region. Hunters who are physically challenged can also be accommodated here.

Deep Creek Lake State Park

The Deep Creek Lake State Park and Natural Resources Management Area is located almost twenty miles towards the south west of Cumberland. There are hands-on exhibits in the Deep Creek Lake Discovery Center that throw light on the nature and history of this area. There are also interpretive programs that offer information to the visitors of this park.

Warrior Mountain Wildlife Management Area

In Western Maryland lies the Warrior Mountain Wildlife Management Area which is spread over 4,400 acres of streams and woods. Visitors can indulge in activities like hunting of white-tailed deer, squirrels and wild turkeys. This area has some old roads that can be used for biking or hiking.

Garrett State Forest

Almost 35 miles towards the southwest of Cumberland one reaches Oakland where the Garrett State Forest is situated. Snowmobiling, biking and hiking are the various activities that can be carried out in this park.
