Laurel is situated between the mid of Washington D.C and Batlimore and has a total area of 9.9 km2. This includes 98%25 of land and the remaining is covered with water.
The city has an elevation of 164 feet and falls under the Easter Time Zone which is UTC-5. The city was integrated in the year 1870 under the name Laurel Factory and continues to be a historical district comprising a Main Street.
Population at the time of commencement of the city was just above 1000, but at present it has increased to around 19,000. However, the city maintains its atmosphere of a small town.
The climate of the city is extreme at both ends. It is very warm during the summer and very cold in winter. The temperature rises to about 70s during the summer and diminishes to 30’s during winter.
Fair and even rainfall is available to the city throughout the year. The average annual precipitation level stands at 46.40 in the city.
