Tourist Guide Lexington Park
A census-designated place, Lexington Park is located in St. Mary's County, Maryland, United States. It is Maryland Micropolitan Statistical Area’s principal community. The community was established during World War II when the Patuxent Naval Air Station was started. The place was named after USS Lexington aircraft which sank recently. Earlier the town was called “Jarboville”. Several high-tech and aerospace companies have started their operations here which have created additional jobs in the place.
The place is a one of the fastest expanding “micropolitan” areas in the USA. In 2000 the total population of the place was 11,021, which is growing at the rate of 14.6%25. The growth in the strength of military operations is largely responsible for this growth.
The climate of the place in summer is very warm and the temperature is in the range of 70’s. The winters at this place are very cold and the temperature is in the range of 30’s.
