There are several museums and few diving points in this city to visit. The best among all to visit is The Heritage Society of Essex and Middle River, Inc. This is a museum and non profitable organization which preserves the history of the Essex and Middle River. The objective of this organization is to share the heritage of the community and its valuable history to the forthcoming generation and the visitors.
Even though it has 1.9 km2 of water in its total area, this city is famous for its beaches namely the Middle River beach and Downs Park Dog beach. Beautiful campsites, excellent hiking trails, fishing, fantabulous picnicking and superb swimming facilities add attraction to the Middle River Beach. But on the other hand, as Dog beach is situated on the Chesapeake Bay and on the shores of the ocean, tourists are not allowed to swim in this place. However, an evening walk enjoying the calm and pleasant wind through the shores of this beach and the nearby Dog park attracts each and every tourist.
