Olney is situated in state’s north central portion; at the distance of 20 miles on the northern side of Washington DC. This city was highly agricultural till 1960s. Thereafter, growth of Washington suburbs caused conversion on its part in to residential area.
In Money Magazine’s edition of July 2007, Olney had been ranked 17th amongst 100 Best Places to Live. Being an unincorporated region, boundaries of Olney have not been defined on an official basis as yet. Larger portion of the town lies on the southern side of Brookeville; and western side of Spring.
According to census conducted in the year 2000, population of Olney was 31438; with its density being 934.4 per sq. Km. Per capita income for this city was calculated to be $35267. Around 2.6% of total population was found to be below poverty line.
