Belmont can be described as a town located in county of Middlesex, Massachusetts, US.

The town of Belmont was established on 18th of March, 1859 by previous citizens. It’s bounded by Watertown on the southern side, Waltham on the western side, and Arlington (called ‘West Cambridge’ before) on the northern side.
The name ‘Belmont’ has been derived from ‘Bellmont’, i.e. 0.8 sq. Km estate of a leading advocate as well as the biggest donor with respect to its bringing up, i.e. John Perkins Cushing.

At present, Belmont is included as one of the suburbs of Boston. It’s best known with regards to Belmont Hill ‘neighborhood’ (which is mansion-filled); even though majority of residents reside in more populous, low-lying regions surrounding the hill.

As per US Census Bureau, area of Belmont on the whole comes out to be 12.2 sq. Km; out of which 1.06%25 consists of water.

According to census conducted in the year 2000, population of Belmont was 24194.
