Fitchburg Art Museum situated in Elm Street was founded in 1925 and displays numerous European and American drawings, ceramics, paintings and prints in its 14 galleries. There are Greek, Roman, Egyptian, pre-Columbian and Asian antiquities including marble portraits, bronze statues and Egyptian paintings in the museum.
Fitchburg Autumn Festival is a festival of arts held annually. A number of events such as the Riverfront Antiques Show & Sale, the Forge-In Blacksmith Competition and The Great Pumpkin Carve are held here. Forge-In includes a competition of artisans from the metalwork’s industry and The Great Pumpkin Carve is an event where pumpkins are lit in the night and displayed on the Nashua River.
The Gardener Museum is another historical place which is registered in the National Register of Buildings and is situated in the Levi Heywood Memorial Library which was built in 1886. The museum has a wide display of furniture and the Richardson Roman architectural glass window is the major attraction here.
