Chaska city is situated in Carver County in Minnesota.  This city is the county seat of Carver County. Its history reflects the influence of the Native American culture and its first inhabitants were the Mould Builders. The named Chaska is named after a Dakota word which was given as a name to the first male child.

The population was estimated to be 17,449 as per the 2000 census. As of 2009, the population reached to 23,947 people. Since 2000, it has had a population growth of 36.03 percent.

As per the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 14.3 square miles, of which, 13.7 square miles is land and 0.6 square miles is water.
