Lexington Green is the site of the first battle which occurred between the Redcoats and the Minutemen during the Revolutionary War period. Built in 1711, this square is a historic site and people still visit the site from across the country. This is a site from where shots were heard over two centuries ago. Till date, the site is known as the opening shots of the American Revolutionary in 1775. Situated at the centre of the city of Lexington, it serves as the main staging area for the annual reenactment of the Battle. There is a statue, representing common Lexington Minuteman that stands at the eastern edge of the Common.
