Built in 1835, the Custom House Maritime Museum was designed by Robert Mills. This historic museum is a classic Revival style custom house having exhibits pertaining to more than 300 years of maritime history. The China trade and the ship building on the Merrimac River are also some of its attractions. There is also a 15 minute audio visual programs which enables the visitors to see the history of Newburyport city.
