The Academy of Music Theatre is a special place which provides the historical background and presents local and international talents too. This museum theater was a dream project building of businessman Edward Lyman who was a Northampton native. This music theater made its public debut in 1891. In 1892, Lyman made a really true gift of the theater and transferred the ownership rights of the museum to the city making it the first municipally owned theater in the country.
