The city of Raynham was settled in 1639. It was then settled as a part of Taunton. A number of ships’ hulls were built along the river Taunton which then sailed towards the Fall River for the fittings. This town was where iron was found along the two mile Forge River. It is claimed to be the site of one of the most successful iron works in the United States of America. It has a total area of 20.9 square miles. The population of this town as per the census of 2000 was 11740. It is one of the most well planned cities in the United States of America. A number of major routes pass through the town of Raynham. These routes include the Route 44,104 and 138. The nearest national and international airport is situated 40 miles north of the town and it is the Logan International Airport. It also has a very well equipped local airport that consists of all the major facilities in Taunton. The city has a number of small manufacturing industries but it was and is still well known for its rural and agrarian base.
