Roxbury can be described as a neighborhood located within Massachusetts, USA.

Roxbury holds the credit of being amongst the 1st towns discovered in the year 1930 in Massachusetts Bay Colony. It acquired an urban status in the year 1846; till its annexure towards Boston on 5th of January, 1868.

At present, Roxbury is amongst 21 official ‘neighborhoods’; as far as Boston is concerned.

Average precipitation on an annual basis is recorded to be 47.1 inches. July is the hottest month; with temperature of around 83.5 degree F; whereas January proves to be the coolest month; with around 18.9 degree F. Its elevation above sea level comes out to be 102 meters.

Roxbury is, till date, known as an African-American neighborhood. This is the case since 1960s. However, Puerto Rican population is increasing day by day. According to census conducted in the year 2000, 63%25 of total population consists of African-American/Black people.
