Salem is the capital city of Oregon, USA. The city is also the county seat of Marion County. It is located in the Willamette Valley, between Portland and Eugene, bounded by the Coast Range in the west and Cascade Range in the east.
The weather of Salem is dominated by the moist Pacific wind. Salem has a temperate climate. Temperatures are moderate with the annual average temperature being 11°C. The average temperature experienced in January is 5°C while that in July is 20°C.
Salem has approximately 149,300 inhabitants. It is often called the ‘Cherry City’ as it has a very significant cherry growing industry. The Wine industry of Willamette Valley is fast gaining importance in the city’s economy.
