General opinion:  The County of Muskegon is one of the 88 counties of the U.S. State of Michigan. The county seat is Muskegon, and Muskegon is its largest city. According to the national census of 2000 the city had a population of 170200 inhabitants and a population density of 129 inhabitants / km 2. According to the United States Census Bureau the city has an area of 46.7 km ², of which 37.2 square kilometres covered by land and 9.5 square kilometres is covered by water. Muskegon is a major centre for culture and tourism. The timber business holds a prominent place in the economy of the Muskegon city. ... More Muskegon County Airport serves as the city’s air transportation facility. The Neighbouring counties are Oceania to the north, Newaygo County to the northeast, Kent County to the east and Ottawa County to the south. The Muskegon city follows the Eastern Standard Time. Muskegon has a temperate humid climate with four well defined seasons. The summers are mild in the state due to the presence of large bodies of water in the region, while the winters are cold.
